Reception Redevelopment – It takes a Village to Raise a Child

If you don’t already know, the move of the reception classrooms has involved practically rebuilding the outdoor area and much work indoors too. This is a real opportunity for you to get involved in your child’s reception experience. We have a Facebook page for parents  who are interested in volunteering time and skills.

Abbots Reception Helpers – Please only join if you are someone who is willing to get involved and give your time. There is another Facebook general parents group for reception.

Many parents have already worked flat-out for two days in their Summer hols, or came in during last half term. They achieved amazing results. The outdoors area has been transformed. The classrooms have been repainted and look clean and fresh:

A very big thank you to Adam Bailey, Paul and Steph Kimber, Paul and Hannah Swinton, Martin McKay, Sam Edwards, Sarah Quinn, Evan Quinn, Mel Slevin, Nicola Manchester, Louise and Lee Birchall, Kate Fey, Jo Fairbairn, Sue Harland, Laura Preston, Paul Staples. … Some of these people don’t even have children in reception class at Abbots! There aren’t really many names here out of two reception classes, so think about whether you can do your bit to help.

We we are meeting again BH Sunday for one last push. Let me know if you can help out. The more the merrier. Start at ten. Children welcome, some have brought their bikes with them to use on the playground, which worked well.

TO DO:

We we have display boards and shelves to put up indoors, so bring a drill if you can help.

We have fences to put up outdoors, and a long extension cable would be very useful.

We want to dig a big hole and sit two tractor tyres in, vertically, so bring a spade.

We moved two sheds and now want to ‘Kango’ the concrete that was underneath to create a new garden area. Do you know someone who could help?

Bring a broom to help give the place a sweep.

There will be classroom jobs too, organising resurces, a bit of laminating, amking signs.

Mrs. Quinn.
